Starting ABCalc

ABCalc can be started as a regular application, and it also includes an option to put itself to "autostart" to put itself to "autostart" so that it runs when you log in to the system. Additionally, it is recommended to enable the [Minimize/hide window instead of closing][settings.md#minimize_on_close] option to keep the calculator running.

Windows

If you associate some keyboard shortcut with ABCalc in Windows, it is recommended that you reference the "ABCalc.Launcher.exe" application instead of ABCalc.Desktop.exe (or ABCalc.WinStore.exe in the case of the Microsoft Store installation). This way, when an instance of ABCalc is running, you will be able to switch to it instantly.

Microsoft Store

If you installed ABCalc Free or ABCalc Plus from Microsoft Store, the Launcher application is available, but its location is obscure. The location is similar to this (replace the version number in the path with the actual version number):

  • ABCalc Plus: C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\AlliedBitsLtd.ABCalcPlus_1.5.0.0_x64__xcx5d9p83xz2y\Launcher\ABCalc.Launcher.exe

If the helper application does not run or is not accessible (e.g., due to the permission restrictions), you can download ABCalc Launcher and place the version for your processor architecture anywhere on your drive, then reference it. Launcher knows how to run Windows Store applications.
